Players assemble decks from a collection of more than 250 cards drawn from the legions, politics, gods and arenas of the Roman world, then face opponents in turn-based duels where board positioning, resource management and timing determine the winner.

Content is split between "Via della Gloria", a hundred-level single-player campaign against AI opponents, and player-versus-player duels in both casual and ranked ladders. A separate mode adapts Ludus Latrunculorum, the Roman game of military tactics, into a standalone board challenge, while each new season expands the card pool and rotates the ranked rewards.
